BCU SPONSORS UCPBA EVENT WITH YAKIV SMOLII, GOVERNOR OF THE BANK OF UKRAINE

On July 3, 2019 the Ukrainian Canadian Professional and Business Association of Toronto (UCPBA) hosted an evening featuring the Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine, Yakiv Smolii. The event which was held at the Albany Club in Toronto was exclusively sponsored by BCU Financial Group,  which has continually supported many economic and democratic reforms in Ukraine since its declaration of independence in 1991.

The president of the UCPBA, Marc Marzotto thanked BCU Financial Group for their generous support and welcomed the 125 guests and dignitaries in attendance. He then turned it over to Olha Senyshyn who introduced the keynote speaker Mr. Smolii. In his address, the Governor of the Bank of Ukraine provided an economic update on the regulations regarding the financial ecosystem of Ukraine and its many business sectors. He touched on the National Bank of Ukraine’s responsibilities for creating financial stability in Ukraine and the reform achievements over the past five years.  Mr. Smolii engaged with the audience in an informative Q&A session, in which guests put forth a variety of questions on wide-ranging topics, including how to promote confidence in the banking system and anti-corruption efforts in Ukraine.

On behalf of the event sponsor, BCU Director, Ihor Kozak, thanked Yakiv Smolii and UCBPA Toronto for organizing this free public event for Canadian-Ukrainian professionals, entrepreneurs, business owners and community leaders in the GTA.  Following the formal concluding remarks, the guests in attendance had an opportunity to speak with the Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine.
