The National Executive of the League of Ukrainian Canadians (LUC) and LUC - Ottawa Chapter took part in the Commemoration of the 83rd Anniversary of the Holodomor on Parliament Hill. On Saturday, November 26, 2016 over 400 people attended a very moving Holodomor Commemorative Service organized by the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, Toronto Branch. The Commemorative event was held to honour and pray for the millions of lives that perished by a deliberate starvation led by the Soviet regime during 1932-1933. Present were two Holodomor survivors, Mr. Stefan Horlatsch and Mr. Mykola Latyshko along with their families. As well in attendance were children and grandchildren of deceased Holodomor survivors...

On November 29, the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, in partnership with the Canada-Ukraine Parliamentary Friendship Group and the Embassy of Ukraine in Canada, held a solemn commemoration in Canada's Parliament to mark the 83rd anniversary of the Holodomor Famine-Genocide in Ukraine. In 1932-33 the totalitarian regime of Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin sentenced the Ukrainian nation to death by starvation. Millions of children, women and men were condemned to death because of the Ukrainian peoples' aspiration for independence, their desire to speak their language and maintain their culture and traditions. The fourth Saturday of November is designated Holodomor Memorial Day in Canada...

The XXV Triennial Congress of Ukrainian Canadians, held in Regina September 29-October 2, 2016, adopted a series of resolutions that will guide the work of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) for the next three years. Over 250 delegates from Ukrainian Canadian organizations and communities across Canada participated in the work of the historic Triennial Congress. "These resolutions set out an ambitious agenda and plan for the next three years. We have left the Congress energized by the vibrant discussion," stated Paul Grod, National President of the UCC. "As the UCC continues its role as the voice of the 1.3-million-strong Ukrainian community in Canada, we call on all our member organizations, provincial councils and local branches to work towards achieving these important goals." Renata Roman, Chair of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) Invictus Games Organizing Committee and Bohdan Kupych, member of the UCC Ukraine Advisory Council, met with Ukrainian officials on October 21 to discuss Ukraine's participation in the Invictus Games, which will be held in Toronto, September 24-30, 2017 featuring 550 competitors from 17 nations. The Invictus Games are an international sports competition in which wounded, ill and injured military personnel and veterans take part. Founded by Prince Harry, the inaugural Invictus Games took place in London in 2014, with more than 450 competitors from 13 nations. "The Invictus Games demonstrate soldiers' and veterans' indefatigable drive to overcome and the power of sport on their journey to recovery."
