KYIV — A delegation of the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC), led by President Paul Grod, met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Aug. 26.
“Together, we discussed diplomatic efforts, pressure on Russia, the return of abducted children, support for our students, and attracting investment for reconstruction. We also talked about support for our warriors,” Zelenskyy said.
Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the UWC has raised more than $75 million through its Unite with Ukraine initiative, primarily to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“I am grateful for this assistance,” Zelenskyy said.
The discussion also touched on the issue of multiple citizenship.
“The law has been adopted, and the government will soon issue the necessary regulations. The first countries where these provisions will be applied are Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, the United States, and Canada. This is a step toward even greater unity among Ukrainians worldwide,” Zelenskyy said.
The President of Ukraine thanked the UWC for its active work on behalf of Ukraine.
At the same time, Paul Grod expressed gratitude to President Zelenskyy for his attention to the global Ukrainian community and the opportunity to align advocacy priorities.
The UWC delegation included UWC Vice Presidents Andriy Futey, Zenon Potoczny; UWC Board Members Vitorio Sorotiuk and Zenon Kowal; President of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America Michael Sawkiw; and President of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress Alexandra Chyczij.
Also joining were Andrew Potichnyj, director of the UWC Unite with Ukraine initiative; and Andriy Shevchenko, head of the UWC mission to Ukraine.
