Source: Ratcliffe during the hearings in the US Senate.
Literally: “But as far as the Ukrainian resistance is concerned, the Ukrainian people and the army have been underestimated for several years. I am convinced, based on my reflections and observations from an intelligence point of view, that they will fight with their bare hands if they have to, if they do not have the conditions acceptable for a lasting peace.”
Details: He stated that US President Donald Trump seeks to end the war on such terms that will lead to a lasting peace. And the CIA has taken steps to support Trump’s goal.
The CIA chief assured that Trump understands the danger posed by a Russian victory, and stressed that in the event of “successful negotiations,” neither side would be able to achieve its maximalist goals.
At the same time, he noted that the Russian army has an advantage on the battlefield and is slowly advancing.
