Toronto, ON — November 13, 2025 — In a celebration of legal excellence and community leadership, Paul Grod, President of the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC), was awarded the honorary title of “Ukrainian Canadian Lawyer of the Year” during the annual general meeting of the Ukrainian Canadian Bar Association (UCBA). The event took place at the prestigious University Club in Toronto, Canada’s largest city, and brought together leading figures in law, journalism, and public policy.
Accepting the award, Grod expressed his gratitude to the organizers, calling it “a great honor to receive such a prestigious recognition” and emphasizing his commitment to supporting the Ukrainian-Canadian community both in Canada and globally.
The gathering showcased prominent experts including bestselling author and columnist Diane Francis, a senior fellow at the Washington-based Atlantic Council, and investigative journalist Viktor Malarek, reflecting the intersection of law, media, and public policy in strengthening civic engagement.
During the meeting, the UCBA recognized the outstanding achievements of its members, highlighting their contributions to the legal profession and their tireless work in supporting the Ukrainian-Canadian community.
UCBA President Taras Kulish reflected on a successful year for the association, noting the creation of new committees, the organization of high-profile educational and networking events, and the active engagement of the Quebec chapter. Kulish underscored that such initiatives not only strengthen the legal profession but also foster cohesion and advocacy within the broader Ukrainian-Canadian community.
