russia needs to expand the capabilities of the defense-industrial complex (DIC) in order to prepare for future military conflicts. This statement was made by the head of the Russian regime, vladimir putin, the Kremlin press service reported on Wednesday, April 23.
Thus, at a meeting of the russian military-industrial commission, he stated that in 2024, ussian defense plants doubled the production of weapons, communications systems and electronic warfare, and also sent 4 thousand armored vehicles and tanks, 180 aircraft and helicopters and more than 1.5 million drones of various types to the troops.
“There is still a shortage of these weapons. There is not enough,” putin complained.
According to him, the defense industry has been given “even more ambitious” tasks than before this year, and the program to expand the capabilities of defense plants will affect more than 400 enterprises.
“It is necessary to take into account the global trends in the development of military technologies as much as possible, that is, to predict and understand what potential armed conflicts of the future may be, and the future is rapidly approaching. And the movement is faster and faster, the speed of these changes is increasing,” putin added.
In 2025, russia’s military spending will reach a record level – about 120 billion euros, which is more than 6% of GDP. Compared to 2021, the military budget has actually increased fourfold.
