French President Emmanuel Macron has urged Kremlin ruler Putin to stop lying that he wants peace while continuing to bomb Ukraine.
As reported by Le Monde, during a visit to Madagascar, the politician said that Paris’s position is unchanged and will not change in the future: France stands for the sovereignty of peoples and territorial integrity. According to him, one cannot expect Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to agree to a ceasefire while the Russians are shelling Kyiv: “Regarding Ukraine, we are waiting for only one answer: does President putin agree to an unconditional ceasefire? Given the difficulties of stopping hostilities, the Americans’ anger should be focused on only one person – President putin.”
Macron also said that the issue of Crimea occupied by the Russian Federation “is not a problem now” and Trump’s statements that Kyiv has lost the peninsula simply describe the de facto situation. “Does this mean that we should give (Russia) freedom of action? No,” he said.
