On Easter night, the American Republican channel Fox News broadcast a service in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow with the participation of Russian dictator vladimir putin. Along with this, they showed a service from Kyiv, which was mistakenly signed in Russian. The broadcast was carried out on the Fox News YouTube channel.
The broadcast was carried out on the Fox News YouTube channel.
Most of the stream was devoted to the service from Moscow, where a Russian sermon was broadcast without translation.
The head of the Russian Orthodox Church Kirill (Gundyaev) addressed the Russians with a cynical statement: “We will pray and work so that a just and lasting peace is established in the vastness of historical Rus. And so that no forces can destroy the spiritual unity of the people who received grace in the Kyiv baptismal font.”
Meanwhile, nearby, in a small window, the Divine Service of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine was being broadcast from the St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Cathedral in Kyiv. At first, the Fox News caption editor signed the video of the broadcast as follows: “Easter Divine Service: Kyiv, Ukraine”.
However, after a short pause and a new inclusion, the Trump channel changed the caption to “Kyiv, Russia”. The broadcast from the Kyiv Cathedral remained with this caption for more than 30 minutes. Later, the editors corrected the caption to “Kyiv, Ukraine”.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine responded to this incident on the air of “Fox News”. The department demands an apology from the TV channel.
“If this was a mistake, and not a deliberate political statement, an apology should be asked and an investigation should be conducted into who made the mistake”, – said the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Heorhiy Tykhyi.
