Europe has reacted to US Vice President J.D. Vance’s statement on territorial concessions. They believe that any peace agreement aimed at ending the war must include the “territorial integrity” of Ukraine as a pro-European country.
The office of President Emmanuel Macron made a corresponding statement to the AFP agency on Wednesday, April 23.
What Macron said
“Ukraine’s territorial integrity and European aspirations are very important demands for Europeans,” the report says.
Recently, US Vice President J.D. Vance spoke about territorial concessions on both sides. In particular, the US is considering the possibility of recognizing Russian control over occupied Crimea and easing sanctions as part of a potential agreement.
In addition, Donald Trump threatened to stop American diplomatic efforts if Kyiv and Moscow complicate the situation.
The Institute for the Study of War previously warned that the Kremlin could use the ceasefire to prepare for new aggression. The current front line does not provide the “strategic depth” necessary for reliable defense of Ukraine.
