Eugene Czolij, a prominent Ukrainian community leader and corporate litigator, has been recognized in the 2026 edition of The Best Lawyers in Canada, the 15th straight year he has earned the distinction.
Czolij is a member of the Board of Directors of the Ukrainian World Congress. He also chairs the Committee on the Protection of Rights of UWC and its network. He served as UWC President of the Ukrainian World Congress from 2008 to 2018 and of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress from 1998 to 2004.
Since 2012, he has been recognized yearly in The Best Lawyers in Canada, one of the oldest and most respected legal publications in the field.
A member of the Quebec Bar since 1982, Choliy is a partner at Lapointe Rosenstein Marchand Melançon, one of Quebec’s largest independent law firms.
In 2016, he received an honorary doctorate from the National University Lviv Polytechnic for his contributions to promoting Ukraine’s interests and European integration.
In 2019, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy in recognition of his outstanding achievements as a civic leader.
Since 2020, Czolij has served as Ukraine’s Honorary Consul in Montreal.
He has also been President of the NGO Ukraine-2050 since 2019.
