UCC CONGRATULATES NEW CHAIRMAN OF CANADA UKRAINE PARLIAMENTARY FRIENDSHIP GROUP ROBERT SOPUCK

OTTAWA-June 23, 2011-The Ukrainian Canadian Congress congratulated the newly elected chairman of the Canada Ukraine Parliamentary Friendship Group (CUPFG) at a meeting held June 20th on Parliament Hill.
"We are pleased to congratulate Mr. Sopuck on his election as chair of the Canada-Ukraine Parliamentary Friendship Group and indeed the entire newly elected executive of the parliamentary group," stated UCC President Paul Grod. "Bob comes from one of the most Ukrainian Canadian ridings in the country and we believe that he will continue to be a strong advocate for the interests of our community."
"I am very humbled to represent Canada and Ukrainian Canadians as the Chair of the Canada-Ukraine Parliamentary Friendship Group," said Robert Sopuck, M.P. "In the upcoming year, I look forward to working as Chair to build on the many cultural and economic ties that exist between Canada and Ukraine."
Mr. Sopuck replaces Mark Warawa as chair of the CUPFG. "I would like to thank outgoing chairman Mark Warawa for his tireless efforts and hard work on behalf of the Ukrainian Canadian community," stated Grod.
